Archos GMINI XS202s Pocket Music PlayerThe Archos GMINI XS202s is the latest pocket music player from Archos. It seems to be a cosmetic upgrade over the XS202, a bit thinner, but slightly expensive. It's finished in a lovely shade of black. However, if you were expecting a color screen then you are in for a disappointment. The XS202s has only a 128 x 128 pixel 2-inch gray scale LCD. It does have an icon based menu for navigation (looks boring though).

The XS202s measures at 2.9" x 2.3" x 0.7" and weighs just 118 grams. Within this tiny space Archos has managed to fit-in a 20GB hard disk drive. That's enough space for up to 10,000 songs. The XS202s can playback stereo MP3 (30-320 kb/s CBR & VBR), WMA, WMA (PD DRM), and WAV (PCM) music files. Battery (rechargeable Li-ion) life is a decent 17 hours. Connectivity is through USB (2.0 and 1.1). A unique feature of this player is it's ability to download firmware updates from the manufacturer's website.

I would say that the XS202s is good at what it does - play music. It's available in North America at a price of around US$ 230.
