BenQ-Siemens AL-26 Butterfly Phone

benq_al26_1.jpgBenQ now really seems to be targeting ladies. Well, we have yet another phone designed just for ladies from BenQ ( they claim it is designed exclusively for women), this time though its a Butterfly phone, the Al-26 Butterfly Phone. No, the phone does not boast of a butterfly look nor does it fold like one, but its just that you can see a small butterfly on top left corner of the phone, its called the same. Bit disappointing though ins't it ladies? Nevertheless, like the Al-26 Hello kitty the Al-26 Butterfly is not so different when it comes to features. Hence the same model number one feels.

The AL-26 Butterfly, retains some of the features from its hello kitty model, like the large TFT color screen with 130 x 130 pixels, slider design, four-way joystick key and other phone specs. The shimmering white casing is very prominent with a purple butterfly on the top left which signifies the symbol of femininity. One really wonders the wisdom of having two similar phones with the same model number and also it remains to be seen whether BenQ designers are successful in drawing women into buying the phone just for the butterfly. Chances are very unlikely though. Only time will tell! No word on the pricing and availability as yet. We will keep you informed.

BenQ M580a Cell Phone FCC Approved

benq_logo.jpgFCC has just approved BenQ's new clamshell phone, the M580a, so folks in the US can look forward to this one. It's a triband GSM phone, compatible with GSM 850/1800/1900MHz networks. I liked the keypad on this phone right away - they look large and comfortable (it's in the manual, no photos yet).

The M580a sports two displays, a smaller external sub display and big internal display. The sub display is for showing signal strength, battery remaining, current time and profile in use. The phone is also compatible with GPRS to get online using the built-in WAP browser.

One of the interesting features on this phone is a dedicated Bluetooth hot key - which means you don't have to go through annoying menus to turn on/off Bluetooth. The phone also has a camera on the front, which also has a dedicated key on the device.

Pricing and availability will be announced later. Further details to be made available on BenQ's website.
