Archos AV500 Portable Media Player
Archos is introducing the AV500 Portable Media Player - a smaller version of its big brother PMP, the AV700, with a similar feature set. The AV500 comes with a 4 inch widescreen color display that is capable of displaying over 262K colors at a resolution of 480 x 272. Archos plans on releasing three versions of the AV500 (30GB, 60GB, and 100GB versions). As with other Archos PMPs, the AV500 supports a wide variety of media formats including MPEG4, WMV9, MP3, WMA, WMA DRM, WAV, JPEG, and BMP formats.
The AV500 isn't all about media playback either as you can easily record incoming video or audio streams. Video wise, you can record composite video at a resolution of 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second. The format is then saved as MPEG4 SP into an AVI container file. Audio wise, you can record stereo sound into WAV (PCM and ADPCM) file formats.

* Photo wallet - take your digital photos with you and show them to your friends and family. The AV500 can also act as a USB host which means you can directly download pictures from your digital camera straight to the AV500.
* Music player - The AV500 is a capable music jukebox allowing you to organize your music library via artist, album, type of music, title, year, and play lists.

The AV 500 has a USB Host Port enabling you to copy, share, connect and
transfer files directly from other powered mass storage devices.
Additionally, the AV 500 is recognized as a mass storage drive on your PC or
Mac enabling you to store any computer files using the high-speed USB 2.0
interface (backward USB 1.1 compatible at a lower speed).
The AV 500 features a music player. Easily organize songs with the
enhanced ARCLibrary and customize your view by artist, album, type of music,
title, year, and play lists without having to use a computer. The AV 500
also offers an audio recording application to record (encoding in real time)
in WAV (PCM or ADPCM), from almost all analog stereo sources. You can also
use the stereo microphone if you want to record notes and consult them
easily.
