Apple's new lineup of PowerBook G4 Notebook Computers
Apple announced the new PowerBook G4 notebook computer with higher resolution displays and an additional hour of battery life for the 15" and 17" models. And it now comes with a SuperDrive capable of burning DVDs.
The 17" PowerBook (a personal favorite, by the way) supports up to 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution, while the 15" model does 1440 x 960, far exceeding the previous models. Apple also announced an updated version of the 12" PowerBook with 1.5GHz processor and an 8x SuperDrive. The PowerBooks are, err, powered by Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Pre-installed apps includes iLife 2005, a suite of digital lifestyle applications.
Common to all the PowerBooks are built-in Bluetooth 2.0+EDR support, Wi-Fi (with AirPort Extreme) and a scrolling TrackPad. The hard drives come with Sudden Motion Sensor technology. The 15" and 17" models sport ATI Radeon 9700 with 128 megs of video RAM, with support for Dual Link enabling you to connect Apple's 30" Cinema HD Display as an external monitor (stop drooling!).
Prices start at US $1,499 (12"), US $1,999 (15") and US $2,499 (17"), and the new Apple PowerBooks can be ordered online at Apple's online store.
