An iPod in your jeans! - The Levi RedWire DLX
The MacWorld Expo 2006 is fast turning into a playground for mixing fashion and technology. The ubiquitous iPod has seen accessories aplenty; now it's the turn of Levi to join the bandwagon. Levi is actually coming out with iPod compatible jeans. Called the The Levi's RedWire DLX, it will be available for both men and women, worldwide, in fall 2006. Can you believe that?
"The Levi's RedWire DLX Jean is the latest extension of the Levi's brand leadership position by merging fashion and technology that provides consumers with the most innovative way to enhance their portable, digital music lifestyle," said Robert Hanson, Levi's U.S. brand president. "In designing the jeans we considered both function and fashion – the result is a uniquely functional, yet stylish, great fitting jean." I think Levi's gone crazy!
So, what do you get with the Levi's RedWire DLX?
Easy Pocket Storage - a docking cradle built into the jeans and "invisibly" housed within a side pocket. Don't worry about the iPod hanging out like a sore thumb out of your jeans. The design team actually claims to have 'virtually eliminated the iPod "bump" in the pocket.'
"Hip" Controls - a special joystick remote control is externally designed into the jeans' watch pocket. Now, you don't need a reason [for you or others] to touch your hips!
Handy Wire Retractor - to avoid looking like a walking mess of wires, a handy retractable headphone unit has been built directly into the jean to help prevent tangles and efficiently manage the iPod earphone wires.
Levi actually claims that the jeans will be machine washable once the iPod is removed. What next? A hidden detector in your washing machine to warn you about the iPod in your Levi, that you were just going to dump into the machine? Now that's a patentable idea.
