At CES 2007 Altec Lansing is revolutionizing the concept of iPod Speaker systems by incorporating Wireless technologies into their speakers.

The result is the M812, honoree of the CES Innovations Award for Wireless Peripherals. Gone is the need to dock your iPod onto/into the speakers, your iPod can be on your desk the M812 can be on the bookshelf. The concept has changed but the listening experience remains the same with great sound quality that Altec Lansing is known for.

The device uses 2.4GHz wireless technologies (also used in wireless Internet routers) to transmit music over the airwaves. The speakers come with two 3.5-inch woofers and a single 1-inch tweeter. Your iPod goes into a separate dock that can be placed as far as 100 feet away.

Also included in the system is a full featured remote (finally), and a wall mounting kit. Altec Lansing has yet to announce release date for the product but the device is expected to set you back by around $400.
