For car geeks who deal with iPod, this going to be a multi-used gadget for you. Alpine unveiled an iPod video capable unit in Europe last month, the KCE-415i which is able to cooperate with most Alpine audio and TV system. It allows you to play/pause, skip, fast-forward/rewind the main 5G iPod directly from your Alpine MultiMedia station or overhead monitor with additional controls available from the Alpine head unit, remote control, or iPod itself. I’m sure some of you going to love this, the interface is seen by your Alpine system as an external DVD source and not only charges your iPod's battery, but allows the iPod to be switched on/off via your car's ignition system.
To start rocking your system, you can just press PLAY on the monitor or on the remote control. It will automatically charged your iPod when it is connected to the interface. Alpine KCE-415i provides composite or S-Video outs and will be available anytime from now. No words on the pricing yet. It’s really cool to have an iPod in your car running together with your audio system. I hope Apple going to developed an iPod with a built-in camera that had wireless connectivity so that no one will be able to break the window and steal the iPod while I left my car unattended.
