Alltel has announced the availability of the new UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700 smartphone. This is Alltel's first wireless device to use the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 OS. The PC 6700 supports both EV-DO and WiFi networking includes a slide out side keyboard.

The 6700 comes with mobile versions of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. It also includes Windows Media Player 10 which supports JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG, MPEG4, H.263, WMV and ASF playback. The UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700 can also double as a portable digital audio player since it also supports MP3, WAV, and WMA files.

Other features on the 6700 include a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, a 2.8" 65K color screen, Lithium Ion Battery, device cradle, and USB cable. The phone has been available since Nov. 23rd and is expected to sell for $479.99 after a $50.00 mail in rebate and a 2 year service agreement. Via SlashPhone.com.
