Everyone knows about Samsung's constant love affair with thin handsets, the most recent being Ultra Edition 6.9 (X820 bar design) and Ultra Edition 9.9 (D830 clamshell design). However its a little known fact that both use the innovative chip packaging design by Agere System which entails package-on-package stacking. Simply put a "packaged memory chip is stacked on top of the baseband chip package " which decreases the footprint.

The Ultra Edition 6.9 (X820) measures less 6.9 millimeters thick and weighs only 66 gram and the Ultra Edition 9.9 (D830) measures 9.9 millimeters thick. Inspite of their small for factors, both handsets have all the now mandatory features including; music player, bluetooth, 2 megapixel camera, 80MB of internal memory, V set with a TV-out interface. The handsets also support 2.5 Gen EDGE which transmits ada at up to 384 kilobits per second.
