Acer d150 Portable Navigator Review
The past couple of months has seen a whole plethora of GPS navigation systems one such being the Acer d150 Portable Navigator. Trusted Reviews has a done an in depth analysis of the device and lets see what they have to say. Before beginning lets just have a look at the pros and cons first:
Pros: Easy Access To Buttons, MP3 playback, Photo playback, Contacts and system options.
Cons: Bulky Design, Average Display, Complicated software and Storage is via SD card.
The Acer d150 Portable Navigator features a 3.5in, 320 x 240 resolution screen and includes functions like MP3 playback, Photo playback, Contacts and system options and also has a headphone socket. The GPS contains the Destinator DS software which is actually based on NavTeq mapping data and also includes a pedestrian mode. Because of all this the data is pretty comprehensive and comes preloaded with a decent amount of points of interests. Another handy feature found on the device is its ability to give you options like shortest route and longest route.
TrustedReviews Says: "To get you from one location to another the d150 did its job well however, and didn’t let me down during my time with it. However, it lacks the finesse and features of the equivalent TomTom. This wouldn’t be so bad if it was a cheaper option but it’s not. It’s actually more expensive than the TomTom One, which you can pick up at Dixons online now for £240. Oh dear. On this basis I can see no reason to spend more to buy the Acer d150.
Verdict
An effective sat nav device from Acer, but let down by its looks, its interface, its relative lack of features and its price. It does the job, but it fails to present any compelling reason not to buy a TomTom."
