CP8660.jpgAcer recently unveiled its latest 8 mega pixel digicam, the Acer CP-8660 which sports quite a novel design which is a throwback to the cameras of the yore. Apart from an impressive 8 MP resolution, the digicam is also equipped with a long-range Acer precision lens with 6X optical and 8.5X digital zoom. According to Acer because of the following specs even serious and pros can use this digicam as a back up.

Every photographer’s worst nightmare is blurry and garish images. Acer promises to combat these problems as it has incorporated an Anti-shake DSP (Digital Signal Processor) technology which intercepts hand moments and compensates accordingly. Users will be able to print up to A3 sixe of images without losing details or coming across the dreaded image noise. The camera also sports a large 2.8" LCD with LTPS (Low Temperature Poly Silicon) technology. Not only does this particular technology enhance the overall brightness and contrast, but it also helps in shielding the LCD from dust particles and other hazardous stuff.

The Acer CP-8660 has an onboard memory of 25 Mb which is not exactly colossal but it can be expanded to 1GB via a SD card. The camera has dimensions of 96 x 61 x 29 mm and weighs about 180 grams (without battery). One will also dig the black aluminum housing with silver accents. The digicam also includes a video recording mode (at maximum 640 x 480 pixel resolution at 30 fps) and a 2cm macro mode. The camera is PictBridge compatible and has a high speed USB interface. No word on pricing or availability but Acer promises an affordable price tag.
