With FIFA World Cup now in full swing, companies all over are trying to cash in to this frenzied event. Case in point STMicroelectronics which have developed a full In-Car Mobile TV solution with Blaupunkt GmbH just in time for the FIFA Cup. The matches will be broadcasted on the DMB network in 12 German cities, including Berlin, Munich, and Cologne and the new T-DMB Mobile TV service will use this service.

Users can catch all the football action in their car via the DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) radio receiver and the T-DMB decoder based on ST's latest Nomadik mobile multimedia processor, the STn8810. The STn8810 ensures excellent video and audio quality, scalable performance, small power consumption, and security features with digital rights management (DRM) support. It is also able to support formats like video and audio codecs (e.g. MPEG4/H264, BSAC, ACC+) thanks to Nomadik's software platform. The in-car Mobile TV solution is based on ST's Nomadik application processor and it is capable of integrating Real-Time Operating System board support packages, application specific middleware, and application reference software.
