Nokia E70 Coming to USA Soon

Nokia E70 Approved by FCCNokia's Nokia E70 is finally approved by the folks at FCC! Woo-hoo! This baby is, of course, an E-series phone - targeted mostly at business types, and will soon be on its way to the USA. Nokia is pushing big with, ahem, push e-mail solutions including their own Nokia Business Center and BlackBerry Connect among others.

The catch on this phone is the full-size keyboard. With nearly 75MB of available memory on the phone (and expandable up to 2GB via mini-SD card and provision for hot-swapping), the E70 offers WLAN. Being based on the S60 platform (running Symbian OS 9.1), you can never run short of applications and games on the phone.

If you're not a WLAN afficianado, you always have good old GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA (that's 3G!) network connectivity to rely on. The E70 is a powerhouse that lets you take the office with you. Want entertainment? How about using the integrated MP3/AAC player and the mammoth mini-SD storage for it?

The Nokia E70 also sports an obligatory camera, but this time it's bigger and better at 2 megapixels. PC sync options include USB 2.0, Bluetooth and Infrared. If that's not enough, the phone also features Push-To-Talk (PTT) capabilities.

Great times ahead (so sue me, I'm a Nokia fanatic, Paul is but, he loves Nokia). Pricing and carrier availability are yet to be announced. It has been out in the UK for some time and now it's USA's turn, head to the E70 product page.

Portable Cell Phone Jammer (CX 200 Director II)

CX 200 Portable Director II Cell Phone JammerEvery once in a while comes a device from Japan that I would love to sneak into the country. Of course, there's a little question of legality here. Either way, you can't beat the CX 200 Portable Director II Cell Phone Jammer.

Easily fits in your pocket, the CX 200 can be used in two modes:

  • complete jam - that jams everything around for about 70 seconds
  • ending your own calls - great when you want to discreetly terminate a connection

One of these babies costs around US $70. If they make it legal here, you know who'll have the first one!

    Satugo Bouncing Ball Camera

6228_large.jpgHey buddy, it’s true. I am not talking about the gizmos from Star Wars series. Satugo has made an incredible camera that can bounce back just like a tennis ball. The 3.0-megapixel digicam is manufactured in to a round ball shaped body that cam bounce along the ground.

Ok enough play let’s take some glance over the features it incorporates. The 3.0-megapixel camera is secured with several protective stratums. I think 1GB of integrated NAND Flash memory is quite a profusion of space for storing all your squashy images.
It comes complete with a timer and flash and the battery is recharged through any USB port.

You think I missed something; no dear in fact the camera itself doesn’t have an LCD viewfinder. Satugo must have though what would one do of an LCD and view finder while the product is made to play also if incorporated then they the product would have lost the glory since may be then it would only be just a ball in shape and not bouncing ball. Ok satiated with playing don’t worry this playful gadget can also double as a webcam. This bouncy and recreational camera is set at an estimated price $69 though there is no word on availability yet.

The Rollei ds6 also provides 3x optical zoom, but has better digital zoom at 4.4x than the da10. You can also use it to record video, and the integrated voice recording function is useful. Pitched at those entering the world of digital photography for the first time, the ds6 is capable of macro photography - capable of taking pictures of objects as close as 5cm.

Videos at 30fps and VGA resolution are possible, which can then be viewed on a TV thanks to the NTSC/PAL connectivity offered by the ds6. This runs off 2 AA batteries, and takes in SD card for storing your photos.

Targeted at newbies, this has a decent set of camera settings, although I would call it a bit incomplete. It has the usual built-in flash, automatic white balance along with manual/daylight/cloudy/tungsten etc. settings. Computer connectivity is via USB 2.0 interface. Thanks to the included NTSC/PAL interface, you can also connect it directly to a television.
