PetCell - a mobile phone for your dog

petcell.jpgListen up dog owners! Now your dog can have his very own mobile phone attached to his collar. It's called the PetCell and it will be available in early 2006 by the folks over at PetsMobility.com. The PetCell measures approximately 5 cm’s wide, 2.5 cm’s thick and 9.4 cm’s long and attachs to the dog's collar. Now you will always be in touch with your dog via the PetCell. Just call the mobile phone number associated to the PetCell and your dog will instantly hear your voice calling him home.

The PetCell also features built in assisted GPS technology which will let dog owners trace down their pet's coordinates in case they get lost. Other cool features include GeoFence - an option which alerts dog owners when the dog walks outside preset parameters. Finally there are temperature sensors built into the PetCell which will notify you if the dog is either too hot or too cold.

Is your dog home alone during the day time? Attach a small wireless camera to the collar and you can turn your dog into a walking nanny cam. Expect the PetCell to cost between $350 to $400 dollars. Sounds expensive? Some people will go to any lengths for their dogs so maybe not! Unfortunately the PetCell is too big for cats but stay tuned for possible cat related products in the future.

Check out the Wired.com article for information on the PetCell or you can go to the PetsMobility Website. Via Krunker.com
