With weather getting better and better here in North-East USA, it’s time to head for the outdoors. As anyone new to camping will have experienced, pitching up a tent while holding a flashlight in your mouth is not the most convenient thing on earth. Well, Energizer (the “bunny” company) recently unveiled a series of headlights. The new Trailfinder series of headlights and cap lights come in different variations – 1, 3 and 6 LED lights, and as you can guess, they take standard AAA batteries.
At MobileWhack, we received the 3-LED and 6-LED units for review. Both are exactly the same except for the number of LEDs and levels of light offered, which can be selected by repeatedly pressing the single button on top.
In addition to red light for low-light conditions and flood light, the 6-LED offers a spotlight/flood light combination for maximum light. I tried out the maximum light setting by removing the fuse for the apartment and it worked very well (proven by the fact that I could put the fuse back in without any trouble at all). In addition, the headband sits comfortably and tightly so you don’t have to worry about it slipping down or something like that.
Oh, one thing to remember is to keep a coin on hand when changing batteries – it’s not easy to take out the battery compartment with your fingernails! The headlight comes with an elastic band for easy adjustment – which means you can also wear it on your helmet when riding a bike in the dark.
Priced $14.99 - $17.99, the Trailfinder series is now available online at various stores. 3 AAA (Energizer) batteries included. Energizer claims that the battery lasts about 50 hours. With a comfortable strap and bright light, the Trailfinder is a welcome addition to any outdoor enthusiast’s kit, and is certainly value-for-money.
Whack Rating: 4.5/5

These are some useful lights and the light output should be adequate for most users. Nice review.
