Remote Home Control via iPhone and iTouch to be demoed at CES
The CES is a great place to showcase some of the world's best technology and no company would leave out a chance to do that. Adding to the growing list of the products and companies showing off at CES 2008 is Lagotek, a company providing home automation, together with Ikanos, a UK-based software outfit specializing in Windows SideShow tech.
Lagotek is looking to present its "HIP Modes" Sideshow home control gadget, which endows Apple's iPhone and iTouch the ability to run Windows Sideshow (via Ikanos' Go Gadgets technology) and control homes remotely in the process. Go Gadgets is a new web application that allows a user to turn his iPhone and iTouch into a Sideshow-capable device. It also supports Windows Mobile/CE devices and allows remote access by WiFi, GPRS, EDGE, and 3G.
According to Lagotek, HIP Modes are macro states created by the user and upon selecting a specific Mode, the user can control a variety of household devices such as lights, temperature, AV devices, security systems, etc., all on an iPhone or iTouch over WiFi or GPRS/EDGE.
Eugene Luskin, CEO of Lagotek, comments, “This is probably the highest concentration of coolness in one device with Vista Sideshow on iPod doing home automation over WiFi. Our friends at Ikanos Consulting are amazing and, working together, we can achieve in weeks what Microsoft and Apple would never be able to bring to the market. I am very excited with this important step in making Lagotek’s vision of 'Automation in every home from any device and from anywhere' closer to reality. This is a perfect complementary solution for our cell phone home control application.”
