All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

I was looking forward to see who was going to invent a device that would charge up your mobile phone wirelessly. And it looks like my prayers have been answered. Powermat has shown its new prototype technology at CES 2009.
Others have tried to come up with a wireless charging device but no one really succeeded. So let’s take a look at Powermat. All you have to do is place your cell phone, iPod or batteries on the pad and it will start to charge them. The lights indicate that the devices are currently charging so you will have to patiently wait until they are done. Or sleep through the charging itself. Imagine not needing any more wires to charge your gadgets. Simply have this Powermat technology built into your furniture and go about your business. Could it charge up a laptop battery?
Powermat will start massive production sometime at the end of Q3 but we’ll be there waiting to get more info about these products.

how much will one of these run? 59.99? haha
Although based on conduction, not induction– check out http://www.wildcharge.com. They initially launched a “wire-free” charging system for the RAZR and now have skins for the BB curve/pearl. At CES, they say Apple skins and a “universal adapter” is coming early this year — and had working samples to play with.
They also have game controllers (Psyclone Touchcharge) now being sold in Best Buy and ToysRUs.
I wonder what long-term impact electromagnetic fields will have… (induction).
