This is the latest offering from Solarjo, a company that produces unlikely items from something that looks quite ordinary, in this the item is a ladies Handbag, they all carry them around with them, but now there is a nice little added bonus. The power purse as they call it, is solar powered, it is completely covered in mini solar panels that can draw power from the sun light, this does not mean that it lights up or does something else quirky, what is does mean is that the bag can charge up the batteries of gadgets.

The bag has a built in USB port which is the conduit between the solar power and the gadget that requires charging, it is ideal to put the mobile phone on which will always remain fully charged and no problems with running out of battery power or having to carry those awkward plug chargers around.

The solar powered handbag has been designed by Joe Hynek, who is a student at Iowa State University, but now the bag is going on sale to the public through Solarjo, the price tag is expected to be in the $300 range, not bad for a designer hand bag.
