I am a Pocket Wireless customer who lives in Vernon Connecticut, and I currently get no service in Tolland, Ellington, Coventry, Mansfield, Willimantic, Stafford Springs, Storrs, Mansfield, Norwich, Uncasville and Montville, Connecticut, along with no service in Long Meadows, and Springfield Massachusetts. I’m currently paying for unlimited text, unlimited web browsing and unlimited voice, however I find it very ridiculous that I can’t even get service in most of my local northeast Connecticut area. I have tried countless times to dial 611 to get through to customer service and complain about the lack of service but can’t even get through to reach them. In order to test my service further I dialed 911 and after seven tries and three minutes of dialing I finally got through. I consider this to be extremely dangerous; had I been in a real emergency I would have been stuck with a phone that couldn’t even get through to 911. What is extremely frustrating is the fact that when you do call customer service and get through, they can’t trouble shot the network and they state that they don’t have access to fix it. Their reply is a very unhelpful one, they tell you to take the phone into “one” of their retail stores, so it can get serviced. Then that store sends you to a different store, which tells you they can’t fix the problem, and in turn sends you to another store, which can’t fix the problem and then again sends you to yet another store and it becomes a useless run around. You end up getting bounced around from store to store and no one can help you.
Now this mess has been going on for two months, so the final store I go to was 741 Park St, Hartford, Connecticut, the store where I originally purchased my phone from. From the second my wife and I walked into the store one of their sales person gave us a total attitude. She got up from her seat, snatches the phone from my wife, a phone that she cannot hear from unless she’s on speaker phone. A phone that no one can hear her because the microphone on the phone does not work, so the alternative is putting it on speaker phone and in all reality how many people do you really want listening in on your conversations; you cannot have any form of privacy. This sales person proceeds to open the back of the phone to see what might be wrong with the phone and right away she says its water damage, as to dismiss the whole reason why we are there. Another sales associate that was there said that it could not have been water damage because the white indicator on the phone’s battery pack, which indicates if there is water damage, was only slightly, a smidgen with red. So the first sales associate that took the phone has the nerve to ask my wife if she took a shower with the phone and before she could answer that question, she rudely interrupts and asks my wife if she sweats too much. Now my wife and I look at her and she (my wife) was embarrassed by the question and had no way of responding to it. At this point I have had enough of this poor treatment, so I step into the conversation and said, now is that a question you would really ask a customer. I would think the first logical question she would get is if she had gotten the phone wet by dropping it in water, or if it got rain on, but this was not the case. So she then proceeds to try to explain herself by saying that people put their phone in odd places like their back pocket and even goes as far as to say that some women put their phone in their breasts. Now I admit this is when I just lost it and said something rude in return. She proceeded to curse at me directly to my face and the other sales associate is hearing all of this and tells her to stop, relax, and go to the back of the store. I said that this was not a bad idea, that she should go wash up because she really stinks right now. I then ask them to call the store manager into the store that I really needed to speak to someone that can help me. She said no and I said if no one can help me I would make sure that I exercised my constitutional rights. I told them that I would stand in front of the door outside the establishment and hand out flyers about my poor experiences with Pocket Wireless. This is when I stepped outside the door and said “Hello everyone I am a Pocket Wireless customer and I get terrible service”. I did this about three times, that’s when she did call the store manager into the store and said to him you should get down here we have a crazy person in our store that refuses to leave. She then called the police. Twenty minutes later the store manager comes in with another store manager that is wearing sunglasses. Now he proceeds to address me with his sunglasses on while inside the store. After letting him know what kinds of questions the female sales associate asked, they looked at me and said that these are proper question to be asked of customer because according to him nine out of ten people that come in with water damage take a shower with their phone. I said really those are the statistics, nine out of ten that doesn’t sound right. When he was saying this he was not being polite at all, he ran across a room and got in my face about it and in a threatening manner. The other manager was running his mouth, and asks my wife if she was with me, she says yes, and he tells her to tell me to calm down that I am too emotional. The store manager has the nerve to tell me that I should not be disrespectful to the female employees at the store that I would not like it if someone was disrespectful to my wife and daughter. I said if my wife or daughter dare disrespect a customer the way your sales associate did, she better not call me to back her up if she is wrong, if she is wrong she deserves to get reprimanded. He proceeded to say: “Then you are not a man, if you ever talk to my wife and daughter like that I would kill you.” The store manager then said with a mouth full of profanities that I was out of luck and if I would never get a refund from him. With this I will subpoena my own phone records for court and I will also subpoena the video surveillance for Septembers 14, 2009 from Pocket Wireless at 741 Park St, Hartford Connecticut.
I am very sorry you had a bad experience with our company as a CCI i am trained to only sell phones to people who work, live, and play in our coverage area some other reps. are only worried about sales and not customer satisfaction but i wanted to let you know that this company knows where we don’t have service and we let everyone know where they don’t. we have coverage maps in every store displayed on the walls clearly not hidden we’re not embarassed of it. were a new company in this state and were growing everyday towers are constaly going up all over ct to improve our coverage area. Again I am sorry that we couldn’t satisfy your needs as a cell phone company but don’t let a few rotton apples ruin the whole bunch Pocket wireless is a good and still growing company and we will only get better. I agree that you were treated horribly we don’t treat people like that in the new haven market.
Thanks mrjoecross for setting me straight on this rude and ruthless company. I think they stink for hiring that female employee and more so for hiring those rude managers. They can keep their phone service in their “POCKET” and do with it what you may imagine.
I hate any business that is rude to it’s customers.
Many thanks for shading light on this shady company. I was thinking of giving them a try and now there is no chance of that because they STINK to high havens.
