Pioneer AVICS2 GPS Navigation System Steers Consumers in the Right Direction
Pioneer unveiled their new, AVIC-S2 GPS today, a step up from their previous S1. This little GPS has some awesome features which may make it the ultimate GPS system. In addition to its lightweight and slim, wallet sized design, the Pioneer AVIC-S2 sports a full navigation system, MP3 playback, and Bluetooth hands-free. Users get the usual, full coverage maps of the US and Canada, and an added bonus; 1.7 million restaurants, shopping centers and other points of interest via the TeleAtlas database preloaded in the included 1 GB SD card.
The 3.5" screen isn't as big as the TomTom ONE XL, but it does have some equally cool features. It navigates both 2D and 3D views, and an advanced map compression technology allows for effortless scroll and zoom of the map. Each time you use the S2 to automatically produce directions, it allows you to change the route, to avoid any roads you do not wish to travel.
Another great addition to the S2 is the Bluetooth v1.2 technology. It enables hands-free operation of cell phones. Users with Bluetooth-enabled phones can store their contacts in the system and make and receive calls through the AVIC-S2’s built-in speaker, microphone and touch screen. The MP3 feature lets users easily listen to and manage their music via the touch screen.
