In the video you’ve just seen, an UAV or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is being given commands from an iPhone. They are setting the course for it and once the plane is in that targeted area, a command is being issued to photograph the site. I bet they could even have flown the plane with the iPhone, hadn’t Apple thought of this tiny rule mentioned in their SDK agreement:
Applications may not be designed or marketed for real time route guidance; automatic or autonomous control of vehicles, aircraft, or other mechanical devices; dispatch or fleet management; or emergency or life-saving purposes.
The idea is ingenious and we’ve seen quite a few other ways of introducing the iPhone in other activities so for. Remember the surveillance via iPhone? What about the iPhone controlled Lego robot?
I wonder how much an Apple War Battery would last if troops were equipped with iwar iPhones…
