Philips and LG on a mission to process Oil and Water-Based Flexible OLED Displays
It seems like all major companies are on the path of making environment pollution free and therefore developing eco-friendly products. Instead of conventional flexible OLEDdisplays that put the organic light-emitting diodes on a flexible plastic substrate, LG and Philips are working on OLED displays that are composed chiefly of oil and water. The new displays would be built by placing little plastic cells (filled with oil and water) on a flexible plastic substrate and then connecting all of these cells to a series of plastic electrodes.
As per the study conducted by Scientists, the oil is opaque and floats on the water thereby obscuring a colored surface underneath. If we apply electric field forces to this surface, the oil moves away from the water exposing colored layer beneath. It is expected to be a cheaper display and would require lower temperatures.
