Penguin Publishing could change the way books are done

Some of you might remember when we covered the Penguin Qbook Digital Picture Book, and it would appear that Penguin is planning on doing some seriously interesting things with books when the iPad finally becomes available.

Of course, you have to argue whether some of these Penguin books are truly books at all. I mean, have you seen these interactive storybooks lately? Do they encourage reading or touching things to make them move? There is also concern over a recent Vampire Academy book with provides a live chat for readers.

So, say I want to publish a book now. Do I need to put it in this format? Can’t I just have pages. Nope, apparently not. There’s something to think of with the future of books.
