Pantech Matrix Comes from AT&T

The Pantech Matrix phone is schedule to arrive in the U.S. from AT&T soon. The handset a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard which should be heavily used by all those hardcore text and internet users. The phone also sports UMTS/HSDPA support, a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and Video Share support.
We obviously don’t have any pricing and availability yet but when the Matrix hits it will arrive in three colors, red, black and blue. Wonder why it’s called Matrix though.

I just called AT&T.. The Pantech Matrix is in fact coming out , but not today. She says that its not in inventory yet but they do have it. She will call me as soon its released. It may be today, it may be the end of the month.

Hey this is my first slide phone. Do any of you feel that it is slides very easily, maybe as if it would break? and when charging, it takes forever?
I LOVE THIS PHONE!!! just got it last night at my local at&t store. i originally went there to get the pantech duo, but they were sold out of them, and the lady said they had just gotten in the newest pantech phone the day before, and she had one left. i’m so glad i decided to get the matrix instead of the duo. its much much faster and it slides so much better. i definately recommend this phone!!
wow i love this phone and it has really fast screen switching. It doesn’t break like the duo. This phone has a 1.3 mega pixel camera which is ok (not a great flash). If ur a heavy texter i would recommend this phone of the verizon env2
Hi im an Att rep and I am proud to anounce that this phone is out and it is a very nice phone. It is our first texting phone without being a PDA. It costs you less to get the internet and e mail and navigation. It is only $25 per month and the PDA pakage is $30 and it does not include navigation. So take advantage of this great deal.

Ok, so here’s another great phone from ATT? I have some questions that only someone that has used it would know. I just got the LG shine last week.. I can’t stand it. so Im going to return it to ATT. I like that it is a slide phone, but it has it’s downsides. I can’t hear it when it rings, poor pic quality etc. What about the Matrix?? Can you text well on it? can you hear it when it rings? Can you lock text messages that you dont want to delete?? Can you lock the keyboard when you slide it open?? Will someone let me know?? Thanks so much!!!!
Im thinking about buying this phone and i was wondering since i have big hands would it be hard for me to text on it and if its a good enough phone to buy or should i get a diffrent one?

hey im getting it on january when my contract hits 18months so i get it for less i wanna know when it slides does it slide smootly or like do u need to push it so it pops out like umm hard 2 explain do u need to apply pressure or can u just gently pull it out i dont wanna accidenly break it its my first slide phone so i wanna make sure i dont make it break

Warning!!!! Do not get the Pantech Matrix. I had mine for 2 weeks and I started haveing problems with it. Sometimes it would take forever before it would place the call aftrer hitting send. I also had problems playing videos. I Another problem was when you slide the phone open it would take 5-20 seconds for the sceen to turn on. The major problem with it is when you slide the phone open it wouldn’t flip the screen. Sometimes when you shut it and then open it again it would then flip. It started working fine. It kept doing that on an off. Then I couldn’t even use the key pad because it would shut it off when you slid it past the first row. I took it back to the store. They gave me a new one. 2 weeks later it happened again. I took it back to the store again. They gave me a new one. 1 week later it did it again. now I have to wait for another one to get to me in the mail because it has beeen longer then 30 days from the original purchase date. Every time I call custamer service they keep telling me that this is the first they have geard of any issues. I am now on my 4th one in 5 weeks. The phone is junk. Now I am stuck with it.
Loved it the first two weeks until now. IM froze up when I was chatting with my friends today and it’s still not working, piece of Junk. No wonder buy one get one free.

The same problem happened to me as well. Mine would freeze up when trying to get back into the IM client from the idle screen while still being signed onto Yahoo. The only way I was able to stop it was to sign into Yahoo from another device (pc or another phone). Then the Pantech Matrix signs off of Yahoo cause you signed into another device. I’ve had 3 phones that did the same thing. I’ve spoke to Pantech support and they say it’s AT&T that loads the software on the devices, not Pantech. Typical runaround.
I’m also having problems with the Matrix power-cycling while composing SMS text messages. I just did a warranty exchange, and the same problem happened on the new phone while entering a new contact. The phone just power-cycles without warning. Sometimes I wonder if I’m inadvertently pressing a certain key combo that’s causing this to happen.
This is my 4th phone in about 5 wks too. Besides these huge problems, I love this phone. But now I’m stuck with it too. I’ll be on the phone with AT&T and Pantech today to try and get to the bottom of all this. I’m hoping there is some software update that can fix all this. It’s getting to become a nuisance.

i was just texting and all of the sudden the phone froze up. i tried everything-taking the battery out- charging it, nothing worked. This is only the second day i have had this phone
This phone is junk. when I have the keyboard out, the phone restarts in the middle of a text message. I went back to AT&T and the gave me a replacement phone. Same thing’s happening with the new phone. Im getting ready to take it back and see about getting a whole new phone over all. JUNK
I love this phone. It is so pretty but the camera does suck. I don’t use many of the features but boy is it pretty. I paid full price for it and would do it again. It is just so pretty.
i have the same exact problem! when i write a text or a note and i take too long it just restarts the phone and i lose everything i wrote, its so frustrating! im trying to get rid of this phone i am on my 2nd one and this one does it too. so i agree, its a piece of shit.
i got this phone for xmas and now its not flipping the screen to type. i hate this phone and i read the others and i really liked this phone until today. it wont stop UGH i dont want a new phone if it will happen again!!!
I have the same problem, it power cycles when I’m texting….Drives me crazy!!! I thought maybe I just got the bad apple out of the bunch but after some research I can see I’m not the only one!!! This is the only problem I seem to have with it, other then you cant by covers to protect the phone. never have a problem with the screens flipping, mine flip great everytime….within a second? My girlfriend had the Duo before, we returned it in days because after flipping it back and forth for a few days it became loose. I’ve heard Pantech makes junk before I bought the phone and now I believe it!!!
i’ve had mine for about a month and nothing has happened…you just have to use it carefully and not just throw it around like a piece of junk…havent had any problems and i love it!!!!!!!!
i got the pantech matrix for X-Mas and its working fine , sometimes i flip it open and it takes a couple of seconds to turn on but you have to be calm and chillll out , anyways ive noticed its getting kind of loose, anyone have this problem?

I have had the Matrix since Nov. It worked fine until lately. Now I am having the same problem with it freezing up. One time I could not do anything relating to the internet for two days cuz it was frozen. Starting two days ago I can only hear the person on the line if I put it on speakerphone or bluetooth. I am always very careful with my phone and it has not been near any water so I dont know what the problem is. Bottom line is that this phone is not all its cracked up to be.
I need a new phone because mine got stolen…. I had the LG shine and only had a few problems with it the only thing is i wanted a phone with a keyboard. I like the look of the Matrix but a lot of the comments left are kind of iffy. If someone could tell me what they think that would be great. i really need a new phone!!!
i have pantech matrix i love this phone so badass i do have the reset sometimes in middle me online or something but that happens once in a blue moon i am writing this post online with my matrix lol i love it
The Matrix is a piece of *&^$$%#! We had one for 5 days, and the tracks broke so it would only open one way. Still worked, and when we took it back to the ATT store they took it back, saying they’de had lots of returns. Three months later, the store called, demanding $165.00 for this phone I thought they knew was defective, saying that Pantech said it had “water damage”. Well, when we took the phone in, we could still make calls on it…didn’t see any water damage, and didn’t do anything to cause water damage..the hinges were off track…a design flaw. Of course, if they stand behind their product, they will have to replace ALOT of defective phones, so I guess I’ll have to take this hit for the economy. Believe me, gonna do my best to make sure NO ONE in my area patronizes THAT store.
i love the pantech matrix except you can literally slide the phone both ways i mean its weird and it may damage your phone so i recommend that if u do it as much as i do dont do it eva again it gives you some problems such as the phone becomes a lil wacky on the sliding

I’m on my 3rd Matrix and this one has the same probs as the other two and I’ve barely had it 24 hours! It freezes and reboots itself in the middle of my texts. I thought there might be some key strokes I was doing (like ctrl+alt+delete on a computer) but they told there isn’t anything like that on this phone. I love the phone and have no other problems with it but I text around 3000 msgs a month and approx 30% of them I have to re-type because I lose what I was writing.
PHONE SUCKS!!! I’ve had the Pantech Matrix since December and yesturday the phone screen went completly white for no reason at all. i took very good care of it never drop it or anything. I called AT&T and there sending me a new one. i hope this one will work but from what i’m hearing my odds dont look good. does anyone now if you can switch to another phone since these phone have so many problems
I got my matrix for valentines day this year, and the first day I had it and was texting it did it’s re-boot thing, it does it like 2-3 times a day almost everyday, I officially hate this phone it’s a piece of crap…I was wondering if it was just mine that did it but I guess not, this phone is annoying and it sucks, so I’m getting a completely different phone.
I just bought this phone today and I already don’t like that the ringtones I record myself aren’t loud enough to hear, the keys are slippery and I have a hard time typing on them.
After reading all of these problems my mind is made up, it’s going back and I’m reverting back to my old phone.
I love this phone. ive never had freezking problems, ie had this phone since october but recently the whole top part came off! I heard there is a recall on it for this very reason…

you guys say all theses problems ever thought the phone doesnt like you this phone never has problems the reboot thing is becuz ur sim chip isnt in all the way that the reason it keeps rebooting its self becuz its unable to find the sims and if it still doesnt work you need to buy a new chip either because the chip is to old for the phone
this phone sux….ive treated it really good when i text with the keyboard the screen will jus go blank and then it will restart itself…its becoming really loose when i flip it to the keyboard…when i flip it up it take a while for the screen to come on..also when im talkin to someone on the phone they say they cant hear me or they hear a lot of static( i have good service to when this happens) when im talking on the phone the other person cuts in and out…ive had this phone for a bout 6 months now and didnt have any problems till out a month ago..i dont want another phone like this one i want a whole new phone..i DO NOT recommend it..im taking it back friday hopefully ill be able to get a new one..

this phone is a piece of shit!!!!! no one get it it is terrible i had it for 3 weeks and it came off the track i was treating it fine too!!! is there a recall on this phone cause i want a totally different phone!
This phone really does suck. I’ve has it since it came out and it’s terrible. I treat it fine and it messes up. The thing won’t send texts half the time when it says I have full service and getting it to send a picture message is even worse. I’ll be sitting in one spot not even move and the signal jumps around. One second it’s full bars then it’s got no signal. Then yesterday I was sending a text and the whole keypad like locked up. I couldn’t press any off the buttons. Seriously do not waste your time and money on this piece of junk.

SOMETIMES MY TXTS COME A HOUR LATER THAN THE PERSON SENT IT. THE SCREEN IS ALWAYS FROZE WHEN I SLIDE THE KEY BOARD OUT IT IT TAKES FOREVER FOR THE SCREEN TO TURN OR SOMETIMES IT NEVER TURNS SO YA AND YA AT&T IS GREAT AT REPLACEING THEM BUT I HAVE REPLACED IT 3 TIMES I MEAN HOW MANY TIMES SHOULD I HAVE TO REPLACE IT. I DO NOT RECOMMENED THE MATRIX TO ANYONE WHO WANTS A PHONE LONGER THAN A MONTH.
