Sony Ericsson is taking its cameraphones very seriously. At the rate we are going we will probably have most point and shoot cameras replaced with cameraphones. We’ve seen plenty of cell phones sporting a rather good built-in camera. 5 to 8 megapixels is what we’ve seen so far and the 9 megapixel camera module is waiting to be inserted in various phone. Sony Ericsson is also rumored to launch a 12 megapixel camera sometime in 2009 so it’s not quite a surprise that the company wants to improve the features of its cameraphones.

I guess Psystar fans should definitely see this. While the people who installed a running copy of Mac OS X aren’t trying to sell the tuned Dell Inspiron Mini 9 to anyone, this goes to prove that Appe’s OS could run on PC’s too. Imagine what would happen if Psystar wins it’s trial with Apple! Imagine how Microsoft will go all berserk if a judge will tell manufacturers that selling PC with Mac OS X will be ok! Here’s an application for the iPhone we don’t get to see everyday. It’s Obama ‘08 which should probably convince you to give him an oval office in a certain White House. It already get a point for ingenuity and marketing abilities. The team behind the man which runs for President of the USA is certainly thinking outside the box. We’re counting on McCain’s guys to come up with something similar and fast. The elections are getting closer and closer.

With Obama ‘08 will sort your contacts by state and encourages you to convince them to vote for Obama. The app will find local Obama events, highlights and newsreel. And sure there’s a donate button for the campaign. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t one. The application comes free from the App Store. I’m curios if it will be upgraded to a future version in 2012.

Verizon seems ready to launch Motorola ZN4 Krave. According to the screenshot above The Network will sell Motorola’s touchscreen phone for about $150 with a two year contract.

The ZN4 Krave might be a worthy Motorola phone. And we should have been receiving quite a few of those so far, but Motorola has been busy doing nothing. We don’t have all the specs and the kinky features of this ZN4 Krave handset but we’ll drop in at any given time to tell you what’s what once Verzion will officially announce it. The Krave will be available later this month. Better check with your local Verzion Wireless store.

After announcing the Windows Cloud OS which will be reveled later this month, Steve Ballmer made another announcement which isn’t that surprising. He confirmed that the Zune will come with a Windows Mobile OS. Why didn’t Microsoft create the Zune like that from the beginning? That’s what surprises me.

Ever used a 3G mobile broadband USB device to go online? Having one as a backup, for those nasty times when your ISP decides to pull that Internet plug for no apparent reason, is a must. A 3G Internet connection is almost guaranteed, although 3G networks do happen to go crazy from time to time.

AT&T Not Interested in 4G?

Although AT&T has a full HSPA network which was prepared in time for the launch of the iPhone 3G, that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be upgraded to 4G. AT&T seems not to be interested in 4G as it says it’s willing to wait at least two years, if not longer, until it would start deploying the next-generation network

Hank Kafk, AT&T’s vice-president of Architecture said at the 4G Executive Summit that AT&T’s current 3G network already offers more than Verizon EV-DO network. While waiting for future AT&T LTE network we might see an actual speed increase of the current 3G network. AT&T wants to offer subscribers a HSPA+ 3G network which will come with speeds of 20 Mbps sometime next year. Future 4G network might be postponed anywhere from 2 to 5 years.

But why talk about 4G networks when there aren’t any phones specifically created for them?

  • It’s been a while since we heard about the i907 and the last time we checked, it had just cleared the FCC and was biding its time to join the other QWERTY-equipped business phones on AT&T. Now, after almost three months of waiting, AT&T has confirmed that the Samsung i907, now called Epix, will be available on its network giving its customers one more choice from the Samsung camp other than the Blackjacks if they were looking for a QWERTY-boasting smartphone. Clearly based on the i780, Epix can do HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, a 3-megapixel cam, and memory expansion running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system. $200 and a two-year lockdown is all that’s needed to make this baby yours.

To commemorate the working woman and a successful feature film at the same time, Sony Ericsson has launched a special edition “Sex and the City” W350i cell phone. While it may not have the same vivacity of Ms. Parker, this limited production W350i still manages to look alluring in ivory white and comes with a memory card loaded with the movie’s OST, three wallpapers, and the video song, “Labels or Love” by Fergie. Other specs still remain ho-hum with a 1.9-inch 128×160-pixel display, GPRS support, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and dedicated music controls on the front flap. Look for it by this year end at an undisclosed price.

What’s with the big brown box I asked surprised? Where’s the touchscreen? Where’s the Internet connection? Where are all the apps? What OS does it use? Can I go 3G on it?

Despite the fact that I might be disappointed with all the answers to my questions, this Steampunk concept phone is indeed to cool for school. There’s no touchscreen, no applications and no buttons. How do you make calls? Well there are some cards you will need to punch and some binary phone numbers to dial. In your face Apple! Can you do that?
