Sony W910i MOBO Edition On its Way

Sony Ericsson has unveiled a new version of their popular W910i walkman phone  - the SE W910i MOBO Edition. This announcement came a month before the 2008 MOBO Awards that will be held at the Wembley Arena in London. The specifications of the new phone, however, hasn’t been fully released to the public. But do know that the W910i MOBO should be on sale later this year, only across the UK and only via Carphone Warehouse.

As it is another version of the W910i walkman phone, then most probably the phone will come with pre-installed MOBO content. Also, primary staples of the original phone will probably be still there like its design, measurement and certain features. Features like a Walkman Player (version 3.0), TrackID, motion sensor, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio with RDS, quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE, HSDPA 2100 MHz connectivity, a 2.4 inch TFT display with 256K colors and a QVGA resolution, NetFront browser, email and IM, JAVA MIDP 2.0, a 2 MP camera with video recording, 40MB of internal memory and support for Memory Stick Micro cards would probably be in this new phone.

The handset price is still unknown but most probably, the the special phone will cost more than its original version (which is available across Europe for retail prices under 300 Euros).

Thanks Trevor

Nokia has been awfully silent lately, at least for me. Luckily I just came across a concept phone which might represent the future of the N-Series. I don’t think there are any numbers left so this N smartphone is referred to as the N-XT.

The phone has been designed by Chris from Symbian Freak, is a public concept which Nokia could pick up if they wanted to.

From the picture above we can see immediately the main characteristic of the N-XT. It will have a display which will both slide and swivel. And here are the rest of the imagined features:

  • 4.1 inch full-touch display with a Wide-VGA resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 16 million colors
  • Symbian S60 5th Edition Touch interface
  • 8-way D-pad
  • quad-band WCDMA connectivity
  • 8 MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens, optical zoom, auto focus, face detection, xenon flash & dual-LED flash and video recording (WVGA at 30fps)
  • Dedicated graphics processor unit (GPU)
  • Accelerometer
  • A-GPS and compass
  • Built-in DLP 720p projector
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Audio & Video players
  • FM radio and FM transmitter
  • 3.5mm audio jack
  • 24GB of internal memory plus microSDHC support
  • 1,800 mAh battery.

OK then, it looks good on paper. Would you like one? Would anyone care to imagine a price for it? Please keep it under $2,000 please!

AT&T Pay-As-You-Go iPhone 3G?

Here we go and spoil it all for you. We will all be picking up the story of a certain Erica Sadun of TUAW who managed to insert a pay-as-you-go AT&T SIM card on an iPhone 3G. Everything worked out perfectly. The phone calls and the data were there. The phone has been activated with AT&T, whom with else, and it hasn’t been unlocked. Or so she says. And instead of letting you enjoy it everyone will talk about it until AT&T will do something drastic!

Well Asus certainly means business. And it’s mobile business I am referring to. We’ve recently seen the uncleverly named P552W emerge from Asus’ plants and it appears that’s not the end of it.

Asus is said to work on a mobile which will resemble Samsung’s Omnia phone. It’s going to be a touchscreen phone with a large screen; we’re talking WQVGA or WVGA. A 5 megapixel camera is also rumored along with a trackball for non touch navigation. 3G and WiFi should also be there. At this point there aren’t that many infos on what else is going to be packed under the hood. We’re expecting Windows Mobile 6.1 and dare I say GPS? Need more leaked stuff here folks, help us out!

  • By now you already know HTC has a new Touch ready called the Opal. Well strike all that from your memory. The new handset from HTC will be called HTC Touch Viva. I guess Viva is just a tiny bit better than Opal. But not exactly a hit. You’ll be able to name it Charlie later on when you get it. Or Wilma, or Stan… Read the rest of this entry »

  • There are lots of applications inside Apple’s App Store but none of them can do tethering. And we all want that. We’d like that and copy paste thank you!

The last official then unofficial then official then canceled for good application which did some tethering for you was NetShare. Now there’s a new app in town called iPhone Modem. Sure you will have to jailbreak your freshly installed firmware 2.1 but since the iPhone Dev Team has already managed to crack it, what do you have to loose? Read the rest of this entry »

Hooray! It looks like an internal email from Verizon Wireless‘ barn hints to something important. In less than two days we’re going to see the Storm aka Thunder aka the first BlackBerry with a touchscreen and more. We’ve been waiting for such an announcement all summer long. We just didn’t exactly know where to look for it.

And there’s a bad news in all of that. The phone will be launch officially on Monday but the product will be finally sold starting with November 1st. You were getting all excited, weren’t you? Get ready for standing this winter. We’ll be back on Monday for more!

    Pheonix to Get T-Mobile 3G

T-Mobile is expanding their 3G network. Next stop is Phoenix where the 3G network infrastructure and spectrum cost $127 million.

The network offers HSDPA with speeds running at up to 7.2Mbps. But T-Mobile doesn’t offer any HSDPA handsets yet. Which means that if you happen to be a T-Mobile in Phoenix and you have a HSDPA unlocked device from some other carrier, you might enjoy an almost virgin network. T-Mobile will get you some HSDPA devices in the near future, as soon as they get used to the idea that they actually have a 3G network.

    MPro110 Pico Projector from 3M

Pack your pico projector and your netbook and go deliver that keynotes wherever you want. When it comes to choosing a netbook you have lots of options. They are all similar pieces of hardware under different brands. But choosing a pico projector is actually more difficult as there aren’t that many on the market.

3M has a new pico projector ready for launch. It’s the MPro110 we’re talking about. It will cost you just $359. Not a bad price right? The only things missing are the built-in speakers and the brightness. 3M will ship the pico projector starting with September 30th.

Isn’t this some good news? RIM surpasses Windows Mobile in market share for the second quarter of the year. RIM comes second after Symbian which dropped significantly from the same time last year. Amazingly Windows Mobile lost the second position although they have about the same market share they did last year.

BlackBerry is up to 17.4% from last year’s 8.9%. They have almost doubled their market share in a year. Apple went from 1% to almost 3% during the same period. The biggest looser seems to be Symbian which has lost about 10% from 65.6% to 57.1%.

Oh my, but what do we have here today? It looks like the FCC has a chic phone to analyze. The Vertu Signature S Design is the new model from Nokia’s luxury division. Well then go ahead and tell your boss you found out the next Vertu is available. I’m sure he is too busy to read these lines, but he’s probably definitely interested in the device.
