This is an App for the American Museum of Natural History, which we covered partially before.
The American Museum of Natural History Explorer works for iPhones and iPod Touches and it uses 300 Wi-Fi hotspots to triangulate the user’s position in the museum. Explorer will guide for preplanned tours, or select from a list of exhibits and plan your own tour.
I was sort of hoping that this App would use augmented reality. Perhaps the next version. This one is free.

My Source calls this iPad stand cute, and I can’t help but think: “Oh, you’re such a cute iPad stand”. (Just think about how you would say that to a puppy dog.)
This is the Just Mobile UpStand, very similar to the Joule iPad Stand or the @Rest. It can do landscape and portrait modes, and it makes the iPad into a tiny monitor.
It is available in Europe, but you can pre-order it for $45.

This is a very interesting iPod/iPhone dock.
It isn’t really one that you can buy, like the Tron Legacy one. I have to admit, it has the light-up effect going on. I can’t help but wonder if this snowflake of light would detract from the video playing, if you used it for that.
This is just concept for now, but who knows?

Here’s a little surprise for those that like taking videos on your mobile phones and posting them on YouTube, now you can make them longer.
YouTube is apparently changing the upload limit from 10 minutes to 15 minutes, but they did not say when. I’m not certain when they are planning to do this.

Amazon may have that new Kindle going on, but it would appear that a company known as Copia has put out a 5 inch e-reader.
This is the Ocean Reader, and it looks like it has color, like the one from Fujitsu. It also looks like it has a very small price of $99.

Viper’s SmartStart App was released back in October for the iPhone, and then for BlackBerry users.
It is no surprise that it has come to Android, and it lets users start their car using their phone, as well as unlocking and unlocking the doors, opening the trunk, even setting off the panic alarm.
The App is free, but the user needs to have Viper’s SmartStart security hardware installed in the car, as well as an active subscription to the company’s annual $29.99 security service.

We first saw the Huawei S7 Android tablet at Computex, and it looked like it would be only available at Expansys.
I heard that the shipping date was tagged for September 5th, for those who don’t remember, this is an Android 2.1 tablet with a 768MHz Snapdragon processor and SDHC memory card slot.
In fact, the SDHC bundled version could be “in the market” tomorrow for $460, and the non-SDHC model should show up in September for $360.

The Luxury watch maker TAG Heuer, maker of the Lamborghini inspired phone, has announced three new models of its Meridiist phone.
I believe they have similar technical specs, such as 1.9-inch QVGA sapphire crystal displays, secondary OLED displays, 2GB of internal memory, and 2 Megapixel cameras. Here is what they are, according to my source:
Black Diamond is a PVD-coated device, made out of 316L stainless steel, 18-carat pink gold, lizard leather, and 1.34-carat diamonds. The Stainless Steel & Rose Gold model also offers 18-carat pink gold, stainless steel and alligator leather, but lacks the diamonds. Finally, the Meridiist Python Gold Dust offers 1.3-carat diamonds, mixed with gold, East African green garnet, and python leather.
We don’t have pricing or availability as yet.

It has been a while since we talked about the LG Optimus Z, but it has just been formally announced by the company.
As we reported earlier, it will have Froyo (Android 2.2) aboard (before the end of the year). It also has a 3.5 inch WVGA “Hyper” HD LCD (800 x 480 pixels), 5 Megapixel camera, Dolby Mobile and DivX compatibility.
It will be launched in Korea only, but it’s planned to be released globally later.

Time Magazine voted Motorola Droid as Top Everything for 2009.
I suppose that it stands to reason that Time now has an Android App. It already has an iPad App, and the Android version allows users to “read web and magazine content, listen to podcasts, view photos, watch video clips and add pieces of the app’s content to their homescreens as widgets”.
I don’t have a price for this App for Android, or a release date.

I doubt that I need to give the HTC EVO from Sprint any introduction, so let’s get down to business.
Namely, Sprint’s business. A recent report has stated that since the EVO has entered the marketplace, it has generated over 111,000 customers for Sprint. That is pretty good considering the appearance of the 4G phone in an iPhone 4 market.
I’m sure this is just the beginning, and we will probably hear more. The HTC EVO 4G did sell out when it first appeared.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – mobile data is getting more and more expensive as time goes on. First you have your normal smartphone, then you have tethering or a mobile hotspot/broadband modem, then you have your iPad, then you have your 3G connected netbook and you can see how some consumers data bills are ridiculously high. Luckily, Rogers Wireless has announced that they will be launching a new data plan of 6GB for $30 per month with a 3-year contract, of course.
This isn’t too out of the ordinary considering Bell just recently launched a similar plan but it gets better with the fact that consumers will be able to share this data between an iPhone and an iPad for $20 more a month.
Sure, it’s not the most ideal plan out there but it’s certainly better than some.

Apple seems to be running into a whole slew of problems as of late first surrounding the iPhone 4’s reception issues (involving the infamous Death Grip) and now with the latest version of their mobile operating system; iOS 4. If you’ll remember, back in June we let you know that there had been reports of the iOS 4 having problems when installed on the older iPhone 3G. At first, Apple brushed these problems off as a user error but it seems it has just gotten a lot more serious.
According to the Wall Street Journal (so you know it must be legit) Apple is looking into the problems surrounding the installation of iOS 4 on some iPhone 3Gs. The symptoms of this problem include ridiculously low battery life and an immense amount of lag while using the operating system.
Anyone out there having problems with their iPhone 3G running iOS 4? Let us know.

T-Mobile has really been making strides in terms of securing hard hitting handhelds. They have even managed to get their hands on the critically acclaimed Samsung Galaxy S in the form of the Samsung Vibrant. Another device that looks to really be making it mark on T-Mobile in the future is the supposed myTouch 3G HD.
While we haven’t had the official confirmation that this is even the real name of the device, it has appeared during what looks to be a T-Mobile slide show just the other day. Today, we bring you yet another picture of this device, this time showing off its back side. As you can see, it definitely features a digital camera and what looks to be an LED flash (although it could be one of those self portrait mini cameras).
Anyways, as more information is made known about the myTouch 3G HD we’ll be sure to forward it to you.

Today a video has emerged that shows the unannounced BlackBerry Bold 9780 running Research in Motion’s latest mobile operating system, BlackBerry OS 6.0. There isn’t much to be seen in this video that we haven’t already seen but it really does show the beauty and elegance of RIM’s new OS.
Another thing to take note of is the OS’ new WebKit based browser that loads pages not only very fast but in their entirety – an experience much more resemblance of the one found on say the iPhone or Android.
Anyways, check out the above video and let us know what you think. Perhaps we’ll be hearing more about it next Tuesday during AT&T and RIM’s announcement?

Nintendo has come forth today to announce that they will be letting us in on the official release date for their highly sought after Nintendo 3DS portable gaming console. Why exactly they wouldn’t just wait until the 29th to give us the information rather than telling us what they will be telling us a few months early, is beyond me.
However, if you’re not familiar with the Nintendo 3DS and are in to portable gaming you should definitely become well versed with it. Thanks to a special 3D screen the Nintendo 3DS will be capable of displaying a 3D image without the need for those annoying 3D glasses. Additionally, the 3DS will feature not one, but two camera on the rear for taking 3D pictures in addition to a front facing web cam-esque camera presumably for Skype among other things.
So folks, mark your calender, Nintendo will be announcing the launch of the Nintendo 3DS on September 29th.

The 8850mAh battery that can be seen in both models is able to provide up to 8 hours of battery life.
