Okay, last weekend I reported that about one million iPads were sold, then I was told, with no surprise on my part, that it was only about 300,000. I have just been told this number that you see above.

This is how this number was arrived at by advertising firm Chitika:

Chitika’s system works by tallying up the number of iPads that use the company’s advertising network, and then the firm “[multiplies] that by how much of the Internet we see at any given time to figure out how many iPads in total are out there.” That means that 600,000 could even be too low, but it’s what Chitika considers to be the number of known iPads.

Okay, I’m not certain if I want to report about the iPad numbers anymore. Can we just say that there are a lot of them out there?
