We’re not just interested in iPhone prices all over the world, but we are also waiting for official prices for unlocked 3G iPhones. After all being able to buy an unlocked iPhone is something everyone is interested in , especially as this matter was somewhat rumored before the WWDC.
Is O2 going to sell an unlocked 3G iPhone? Well not at first not. That would be insane. How much would they charge for that? How much would you willing to pay?
Getting back on track, O2 staff have apparently confirmed that their policy of offering unlock codes for Pay as You Go customers after 12 months of using a handset will not change for the 3G iPhone. This basically means that after 12 months, for just £15, you will get an unlock code which will in fact unlock your iPhone for good. After that you will be free to switch to any other carrier in the world. How great is that?
Just in case you can’t make it to the UK, or in case O2 won’t be able to deliver this one, there’s one more place where 3G iPhones will be sold unlocked. That’s France, where carriers may not offer any exclusive devices without them being available as unlocked versions. So I guess lots of people will be traveling to France right?

One Response for "O2 to Unlock the 3G iPhone?"
[...] O2 has announced it will sell the iPhone 3G with a pay-as-you-go option starting with September 16th. Curious about prices? The 8GB version will sell for £350 or about $700 and the 16GB version will sell for £400 or about $800. Not that much of a difference between those two wouldn’t you say? [...]
