Notebook Sales Surpass Desktops in Q3 2008By Chris - 12/25/2008 5:48:24 PM |

The inevitable has happened. Driven by our mobility needs we have managed to purchase more laptops than desktops. The research firm iSuppli has reported that laptop sales in Q3 2008 rose 40% compared to last year for a total of 38.6 million units. Desktop on the other hand dropped 1.3% compared to last year for a total of 38.5 million. The event was predicted to happen sometime in 2011. I guess all those netbooks certainly helped achieve this performance.
HP is the number one seller with 18.8% of the market followed by Dell with 13.9% and Acer 12.2%. Lenovo and Toshiba have 7.5 each while Apple got just a 3.2%.
