Nomad Rugged Portable PC from Trimble

Trimble unveiled a versatile, feature-pacced handheld computer. Called the Nomad, the device is a rugged one, meeting MIL-STD-801F standard for drops, vibration and temperature extremes. The Nomad also boasts an IP67 rating, meaning it's sealed against dust and can be immersed in 1m deep water for up to 30 minutes.
Available in four avataars, the Nomad is equipped with a 806MHz processor, 128 megs of memory and integrated Bluetooth. While the base system - 800B - does not have GPS, the other four models, 800L (Wi-Fi), 800LC and 800LE, come with an embedded GPS receiver.
The 800LC goes one step further and features a 2MP digital camera on-board, while the 800LE is apparently the "extreme" edition with an integrated bar-code laser scanner. Memory expansion is via CF/SD memory cards.
The Nomad comes with 5200 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery, up to 1GB flash memory and a VGA touch-screen display. Under the hood is Windows Mobile 6.
At present, Nomad 800B and 800L are available, whie the 800LC and 800LE are expected in August 2007. Prices range from US $1,699 to US $2,499 (MSRP).
