Nokia Tops Smartphone Vendor Matrix Ranking

According to a report released by ABI Research, Nokia is ranked the top ranked Smartphone Vendor, based on the new Vendor Matrix released by the research company. The results are based on the most recent evaluation of worldwide smartphone vendors. Trailing the Finland-based company are Motorola and Research In Motion at second and third respectively.
With a market share of over 56% in 2006 in the global smartphone market, Nokia leads the pack, while according to analysts, Motorola, RIM and Sony Ericsson lag behind in implementation. The numbers are slightl different for North America, where Palm and RIM account for over 66% of the smartphone market thanks to the Treo and BlackBerry devices.
