I like what I am seeing so far. I don’t know if it’s the Nokia branding or the appealing colors, but these handsets look good. If they perform at least as good as they look then we might have some winners in here. Nokia is proposing four Supernova cell phones and these are the 7610, 7510, 7310 and 7210. Let’s what each of them is about.

The Nokia 7610 is a slider which features:

  • a 3.2-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom,
  • instant messaging,
  • TV out,
  • a dedicated music key,
  • FM radio, an MP3 player and direct access to Nokia Music Store,
  • three Xpress-on covers.

It will retail for $353 sometime later in Q3 2008.

The Nokia 7510 is has a fold design. It will be available in Q4 2008 and it will retail for just $280. Let’s take a look at its specs:

  • push-to-open side key,
  • a 2-megapixel camera with NIPS,
  • LED flash, 4x digital zoom,
  • a 512MB microSD card,
  • a 2.2-inch QVGA display,
  • web browser with direct access to Nokia Search,
  • OVI and Flickr,
  • FM radio, MP3 player, access to the Nokia Music Store and Nokia Music PC Client,
  • direct link to YouTube,
  • four Xpress-On front and back covers,
  • light effects.

Next in line is the 7310 which will be available soon, whatever soon means, and it will sell for $243. Here’s what it has to offer:

  • two Xpress-on covers (five more to arrive after release),
  • a 2-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and TV out,
  • instant messaging,
  • FM RDS radio and an MP3 player.

Last but not least we will take a look at the 7210. Nokia will launch this one as a music phone sometime in Q3 with an initial price of just $188. We know little of it so far:

  • “bubble gum pink” and “vivid blue” color options.
  • Nokia Music Store access,
  • compatible with the Nokia Music PC Client
  • an SD memory card slot,
  • 2-megapixel camera,
  • direct access to Flickr.

Well I must say I have lost some of my initial enthusiasm. The phones look really good but I would have expected them to be somehow a lot smarter. Maybe the next Supernovas will do that for me.
