Nokia Introduces Voluntary Resignation Package

Nokia will not get out of this financial crisis unharmed. That’s why the company has decided to introduce a Voluntary Resignation Package, one that will invite employees to leave the company in an amicably and voluntary manner. Nokia’s Head of Human Resources said:

The response from employees and employee representatives in proposing ideas to help reduce personnel-related costs has been encouraging. We have considered these and are now announcing voluntary initiatives that could contribute to our efforts to adjust our cost base to the current market environment. If successful, the voluntary initiatives will lessen the need for involuntary redundancies.

The package will go live on March 1 and it will be active until 1,000 will take the offer. In case you’re working for Nokia and you’re not sure what to do, the company also has an alternative for you. You could always take an unpaid leave of up to one month to think things through. Will Nokia start firing people if it won’t reach its 1,000 Voluntary Resignation target?
