Nokia cellphones will play HD video in a few years

An executive at the Nokia remarked that Video recording on cell phones is heading on to reach High Definition (HD) quality in a few years' time.

It's coming. Technically, we are a couple of years away," Nokia's Chief Technology Officer Tero Ojanpera told Reuters in an interview. "It's still a few years away."

The N95 model by Nokia is equipped with camera and can be used as a camcorder. This year the company enhanced this model and added recording of television quality video.

Nokia will sell approximately 200 million camera phones this year and is targeting at selling more than 250 million in 2008.

"Video technology is there, but it has not reached huge momentum," said Wood.
