Here’s an announcement that is sure to piss off T-Mobile G1 owners everywhere — It was recently made known that the internal flash memory of the T-Mobile G1 is not big enough to support Android updates past version 1.5 (aka Cupcake).
However, G1 owners won’t be left in the dark as their OS will get continued support through tweaks and security fixes. However, a full OS update would be impossible considering the device’s internal memory is stock full, as I mentioned above.
Quite the bummer, don’t you agree?

Dont forget, there ist no Smartphone Manufacturer that delivers every new Firmware Version for their old Handsets.
I had Nokia Smartphones that run very unstable and had not more then two update with minor stability changes.
With the open Android Plattform you will be able to get (or compile yourself) custom Builds in decades, if memory is too small then use partitions of the SDHC Card for the os, where is the problem?
If you dont want to modify the OS so buy a new phone like other people do.

The fact that it is to appear in Donut raises the question over whether or not the T-Mobile G1 will see the new design as it was said the device will not be getting updates past Cupcake. [...]
