Nexus One speech-to-text censors swear wordsBy Mark Rollins - 01/24/2010 6:42:37 PM |
I believe that Google is having trouble with their business in China, and I’ve also heard that China is censoring text messages. In a weird twist, it would appear that that the Google Nexus One’s speech-to-text engine will not handle swear words.
So if you want to say f__k or s__t, then you will have to deal with the text writing the word as ####. Seriously. Apparently, Google is concerned that their speech-to-text program might mistake a word for a swear word, and so it censors it out as needed.
So, perhaps Google and China have more in common than they thought.
