New Technology On the Works: Using your Cell Phone as a Mouse

In the UK, researchers are aiming to develop a technology which would let us use our mobile phones as mouse for public displays. The idea is to use the phone and control the PC screen via moving the phone itself or using a style via touch screen phones. With the new technology, people will be able to scroll screens even in public places to check out air plane tickets or movie schedules, for example. The technology would work as follows: via Bluetooth, the cell phone would relay its coordinates to the computer. The computer then establishes the coordinates and thereby, lets the phone control the interface by knowing exactly what the phone could see. As of current, researchers have already developed the software for Windows Mobile and Symbian phones, although it is still in its infancy. It's interesting what would come off of this technology in the future. Of course, this increases the chance for pranksters randomly scrolling public displays. But that's a price the technology has to pay.
