New Apple patent shows off universal iPhone/iPod dockBy Jeff Baker - 12/11/2009 3:47:03 PM |

What you see above was taken from a patent recently filed by Apple for a universal iPhone/iPod dock of sorts. If you’ve purchased an iPhone or iPod you know that they come with a plastic dock adapter, well this product will do away with the need for that.
The magic is in the base of the dock which is made of sponge like material that will conform to the shape of whatever device you are using it with. What’s even better is the sponge will remember the shape of the device for future use.
Unfortunately this remains just a patent and there are currently no known plans of bringing this thing to market.
