NEC LaVie G type J Gets HSDPA in Japan

|

Sierra Wireless announced that they've chosen the new NEC LaVie G type J laptop for integration of the Sierra Wireless MC8780 embedded module, specifically for the NTT DoCoMo network in Japan. This means that NEC LaVie G type J laptop can now be used to access NTT DoCoMo's HSDPA flat rate service. What the Sierra Wireless MC8780 embedded module brings is both quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSPA network access which means you can trot the globe and have global roaming capability. The MC8780 is specifically meant for Europe and Asia, while its counterpart for North America would be MC8781.
