Nanny Cams: Are they for you?
An increasing number of parents are getting special cameras called "Nanny Cams" to spy on their nannies and to make sure that they are doing their jobs. Nanny cams have been proven to have shown situations of neglect and abuse, but often do nothing more than show that nannies are in fact doing their jobs. Some nannies who have found out that they were being spied on have felt violated and mistrusted. For those parents who are wanting to find out if they've got a good nanny, perhaps they should have done a through background check nanny and investigation before they hired him or her. Knowing everything that you can about a nanny before welcoming them into your home is surely a better bet than hiring one and hoping it will work out.
If you do suspect, however, that your child is being abused or in some way mistreated, a nanny cam might help you catch the nanny in the act. Such proof would allow you to confront him/her, and pursue legal recourse. Nanny cams don't have to be anything special. In fact you could wire up an existing webcam to function as in-home surveillance, or set up your camcorder in a discreet location. But if you want to be a bit more clever, there are some easily disguisted nanny cams such as alarm clock video cameras, and even video cameras fit inside cute stuffed animals.
