We’re not even fully covered in 3G and cell phone manufacturers and mobile carriers are thinking ahead of our time and they are dreaming about 4G via LTE. Should we let them? Well maybe just this once…
Next generation networks are being built and tested by Motorola and Verizon Wireless. Besides them other operators are also testing LTE technology which will probably make its official debut in 2009. Or later!
According to Ray Owen, Motorola’s general director of Motorola Vietnam and the head of technology in Asia, WiMAX and LTE are not competing against each other. He says that about 75% of Motorola’s R&D efforts for WiMAX have been turned into LTE development.
