Motorola i890 Cell Phone Review–Simple But Solid

Motorola-i890.jpgI don’t get the opportunity to play with many Motorola phones, so whenever I do, I’m always at least kind of intrigued.  And the Motorola i890 is going to give me an opportunity to satisfy my intrigue.

The Motorola i890 is a folder-style flip phone with conference call capability, voice recorder, caller ID, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, push to talk capability, a phone book with capacity for six hundred names and numbers, mobile web, mobile email, text messaging, Java capability, several kinds of downloadable content, a two megapixel camera with supplementing 4x zoom, alarm clock, calendar, MP3 player, and a battery capable of yielding a strange two hundred and five minutes of talk time on a single battery.

When I tried this one, the first thing that jumped out at me was how the phone’s monitor snapped open when you flipped it, with literally an audible snap.  The controls worked smoothly and there were plenty of features, if not some of the greater ones.  And quite a few features remained to be downloaded, something I’ve never really approved of.  Either include the applications people want or make the phone cheaper so they can be obtained a la carte.  And the short battery life really doesn’t help this phone at all.

Still though, there’s plenty to like about the Motorola i890, making it a phone very much worth looking at.

The Good

Plenty of features

Java capable

The Bad

Really short battery life

Score 6 / 10
