Well it was only a matter of time until this happened — A group of hackers have taken the time to port the Android 2.1 software, found on Google’s Nexus One, to the Motorola Droid.
Unfortunately, after discovering a flaw in the ROM, the developers have pulled the instructions and posted up the following notice:
This image was generated using mkyaffs2img; this does not preserve file system permissions. This can cause problems and you should wait until a proper image has been created. A guide will follow once a proper image has been created with the correct file system permissions.
Then again, the image of Android 2.1 is still available so you technically do this update but the chances of it going smoothly don’t seem very good.
