Motorola Backflip to only allow apps from MarketplaceBy Jeff Baker - 03/08/2010 7:45:57 PM |

Were you thinking about picking up the Motorola Backflip for AT&T? If so, you should probably know this. It seems that AT&T is making Android a closed operating system, sort of. Previously, you could install pretty much whatever you wanted on your Android phone whether it was from the Marketplace or not.
Now, it seems that AT&T is only letting customers install Android apps from the Android Marketplace. Before you yell slander, this is most likely due to the fact that apps not approved for the marketplace have a chance to cause unforeseen problems with the devices. Most likely AT&T avoiding a customer support nightmare.
Google? Is this allowed?
