Ordinarily, when you drop or lose a mobile phone in the water, it is as good as gone. But here is a rare instance where the phone which was swallowed by a fish was retrieved and yet still working!

A mobile phone which spent a week inside the stomach of a massive cod was still working when it was returned to its owner.

Businessman Andrew Cheatle had lost the Nokia on a beach, but a week later his girlfriend’s mobile rang and it was fisherman Glen Kerley saying he had found the phone in the fish – which weighed 25 pounds.

Incredibly, the handset still worked after being dried out. Andrew, 45, said: “I was messing about with my dog and my phone must have fallen out and been swept out in the swell. I kept calling it but I gave up hope after a couple of days.” He was amazed when he discovered it still worked, and added: “I know it sounds a fishy tale but it is 100 percent true.”
