Mobile Phone Controlled ECG Machine

In a development that seems to capitalize on the extended capabilities of mobile phones today, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has announced that they have developed a low-cost, portable Tele-ECG machine that is controlled by a mobile phone via bluetooth connection.

Known as the Tele-ECG, this new portable device was developed for use in quick check-up of patients who may be suffering from cardiac problems but encounter difficulties as far as getting to the nearest hospital on time.

Doctors and paramedical personnel or even some of the patient’s relatives can be trained on the use of the machine so that the ECG signals and analysis could be sent to the doctor via mobile to get immediate expert opinion.
