Korean firm mintpass are preparing to bring their super-compact mintpad touchscreen device to the US. This 90g palm-sized mintpad has a 2.86-inch display, handwriting recognition, 1.3-megapixel camera and WiFi b/g. The mintpad went on sale in Korea back in November 2008 and was priced around 199,000 KRW ($143).
While it resembles a simple PMP, the mintpad, in reality, has full internet access, onboard blogging software and a mediaplayer that’s compatible with MPEG-4, DiVX, WMV and XviD content. Chatrooms and IM conversations are supported, either via ad-hoc connections or over WiFi. There is also Flash support for streaming video. We should start to see this device when the final English firmware release arrives at the end of the June.
