Metrologic has just announced the release of the SP5700 OptimusPDA worldwide. The device was first available for retail in Europe and then afterwards, in Asia on 2007. The SP5700 OptimusPDA is Windows Vista-based and is especially designed for health care, parcel delivery, transportation and retail and supply chain industry. The SP5700 OptimusPDA features a bar code scanner, 2 megapixel camera, WiFi connectivity and USB & RS232 data transfer options. The company even provides SDK to create custom applications on Windows CE 5.0.

"The OptimusPDA signifies Metrologic's entry into the Windows-based mobile computing marketplace," said Mark Schmidt, Metrologic's vice president of product management and marketing. "For mobile workers responsible for collecting data in the field, the OptimusPDA eliminates the added expense and aggravation of having to purchase and carry around separate devices like a mobile phone, a PDA, a bar code scanner and a digital camera."
