Metal Gear Solid headed to N-GageBy Dax - 05/21/2008 4:39:34 AM |
Get ready for more Snake, this time on your mobile phone, as Nokia has just penned a deal to release Konami games on its N-Gage platform. The first to be released under this agreement will be the stealth action game, Metal Gear Solid, good news to many MGS fans like me. Metal Gear Solid has been developed by Konami in collaboration with Ideaworks 3D and uses “color samples from real world scenery captured by the handset’s camera,” although I am not sure whether this will use the integrated cell phone cam in anyway. The game will feature original content unique to the mobile platform with new dramatic 3D display and camera work.
Gregg Sauter, Director of Nokia’s Third Party Games Publishing, had this to say:
Metal Gear Solid on N-Gage will raise the bar with respect to graphical detail and made-for-mobile features. We’re excited to see KONAMI tap into the performance and community features we’ve built into the N-Gage platform.
Given the fact that Konami already distributes games like Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and Silent Hill on other mobile platforms, it’s only a matter of time before it starts releasing these titles on N-Gage too. In addition to this, Konami also plans to supply Nokia with screensavers and wallpapers related to a number of its game franchises.
