MacBook Pros Affected by NVIDIA GPU ProblemsBy Maverick - 10/10/2008 1:24:02 PM |
While the situation may not be as bad as Dell and HP’s, the whole defective NVIDIA GPU problem is also affecting MacBook Pros. According to a recently posted Apple support document, the specific models affected were all made between May 2007 and September 2008. It includes all 15 and 17-inch models equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics cards.
Similar to other laptops, the problems manifest themselves in the form of distorted or scrambled video, or a complete absence of video on the screen (or external display). If your Apple laptop is within two years of the original purchase date, the company will repair it free of charge, even if it’s out of warranty. It’s also providing refunds for those who paid to get their laptops fixed.
